What is a PLC?
- PLC Stands for Programmable Logic Controller and refers to the brains behind most automated assembly processes. PLCs are most commonly used for controlling discrete devices but most have the ability to control analog devices as well. PLCs use a form of software known as Ladder Logic. Ladder Logic makes for easy debugging because you can visually see the status of the logic bits and trace back to the very bit that is keeping the logical circuit open. Their are many PLC manufacturers: Allen Bradley, GE, Fanuc, Siemens just to name a few.
- Lasersoft engineers know that you want PLC logic that has structure as well as simplicity. We know that you have standards that must be adhered to. We know that in the end, you want something that works well. Proper planning is the key. Understanding the application, from a real world point of view coupled with good communication between all the players is the key to successful automation.
